Law of Attraction and appreciation January 30, 2008

When you work with the power of appreciation you are creating a vibration between the physical you and the non physical you and this process will place you in a space to receive even more guidance from your inner being or wisdom.

The above statement comes from the book Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks who have been promoting Law of Attraction for over 20 years with great success and consistency and quality.

When you decide to flip your thoughts towards something you appreciate you begin the process of feeling better and when you feel good the Law of Attraction goes to work in giving you more of the same feel good sensation.

Think about the word appreciation. It means adding value or value going up. So it is an upwards moving energy. When you appreciate where you are, your health, the things you have, you are adding energy value to that situation and what goes out from you is returned to you.

If you give out complaining energy you get back more crap. If you give out thoughts and feelings about what there is to appreciate you get back a feeling of well being. That´s just how things seem to work on this planet.

You can start this process rolling now by appreciating the fact you have a computer, internet access, access to mountains of knowledge. The majority of people in the world do not have access to the internet and so many do not have a place to live.

So we can start right now where we are and appreciate all the good stuff we have, our health, relationships and the money we do have. Focusing and complaining on what we don´t have will only give you back the same. That´s a life of struggle and there is no space for appreciation to grow and support you in your journey.

Like all things flipping to the thoughts of appreciation is a habit like brushing your teeth. If you stick with it for a couple of weeks you may see some positive uplifting changes happening around you.

Abunance and plenty are our natural state January 29, 2008

Abundance is our natural state, however, we have been educated to think that there is not enough to go around.

When I look at the news or hear people in the street talking the underlying mantra or belief is “there is never enough to go around”. That is why we fight for possessions, land, build empires because underneath all of this we have been convinced that we have to get abundance and riches otherwise someone else will beat us to it.

In the Science of Getting Rich, Wallace Wattles writes.. “thought is the only power which can produce tangible riches from formless substance”.

What he is referring to is that if we are willing to cooperate with Spirit, or the Quantum Field of energy, by impressing our thoughts of abundance, health and good relationships into this formless substance then over time things starts to move in the direction of our dominant thoughts.

Wattles does say that this kind of sustained and consecutive thought thinking can be very challenging to do and we must place our thoughts on the things we want rather than not want.

It is kind of working with the attitude “I will believe it before I see it”.

So if you are not feeling abundance, hard up for money, having problems with health then its time to change the thinking to what you do want in a sustained and consecutive way irrespective of what appearances show. In other words look beyond the appearance of lack to the world that already exists as abundance and plenty.

I am not saying this is easy as I have had my challenges in this area even after years of studying Law of Attraction and books on becoming wealthy. However, when one is working in new ways with thought and working with a formless substance as Wattles refers to then this requires sustained effort, action and very importantly a committed decision to think this way, otherwise it is not worth doing this work if it is a half hearted choice.

Abundance and plenty are our natural state and to start getting some proof of this, go into nature and see the abundance of of an oak tree and how many leaves it produces. Look up at the stars at night and see if you can count them all in 10 minutes. Think about the air you breathe, there is always enough for each of us no matter how many times we breathe in and out.

This is a start to begin realising we have so much and from this feeling more is added to each of our lives.

Your right to be rich January 28, 2008

Today I was reviewing the first chapter of the classic book Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles and it starts of explaining that it is our right to be rich and wealthy.

The word wealthy can mean a lot of different things to different people. Wealth for me could be more free time time to do the things I want to do and earning a comfortable income to support that lifestyle. For another it is about making millions of dollars.

Whatever the definition of wealth is for you, you have a full right to be rich. The reason for this is that money and wealth is basically energy and energy is neither good or bad. We attach so many of our personal stories to money and wealth. For example, “my parents were poor so I feel bad or guilty to make a lot of money” or “wealth is for others and not for me” or my favourite excuse which I have used in the past is “spiritual people should not get rich”.

The first step towards getting a wealth conciousness is to get clear on what your excuses or personal stories are. Realise that they are just stories and let them go. This process can take time as it has taken many years for us to buy into these stories.

To quote Wallace Wattles..

“There is nothing wrong in wanting to get rich. The desire for riches is the desire for a richer, fuller and more abundant life – and that desire is praiseworthy. The person who does not desire to live more abundantly is abnormal, and so the person who does not desire to have money enough to buy all he wants is abnormal”

Wattles finishes by saying..

“If you neglect this study, you are derelict in your duty to yourself, to God and humanity, for you render to God and humanity no greater service than to make the most of yourself”

We are living in times where the old stories about wealth and getting rich are dissolving as we come to understand that with God or Spirit or Source Energy nothing is lacking except our own thinking.

Law of Attraction and attachment January 26, 2008

The Law of Attraction is a natural law and hence a powerful one. One of the issues we can face when studying the principles and techniques is that we get attached to these methods of how they should work for us and that attachment can set you up to feel frustrated and this may lead to struggle.

I have studied and practised the teachings of Buddha over many years and one of his central teachings is our attachment or more importantly our grasping to thoughts, ideas, concepts and techniques that leads to suffering and frustration.

Buddha even suggested to his students to not get attached to any teacher or even to the Buddhist teachings as these would lead to suffering. He proposed that all teachings and information needs to be investigated, studied and that you make your own mind up about what is right for you.

I like this open and flexible approach alot because we are much more than we could ever think we are. In a way the idea of Law of Attraction is a concept until we put it into practise and see what shows up for us and decide what fits us best with this law.

Non attachment or non grasping is not about rejecting ideas it is more about taking the information on board trying it out and work with an attitude of letting go or surrender and see what unfolds for you as you keep moving forward.

This is not an easy step for most of us, it´s an unlearning and a relearning of who we are. However, if we can become aware of what we attach to or grasp then the actual letting go of this frees us up and we feel more in the moment. Being in in the moment is the best place to be where law of attraction starts working for us.

If you consider the true nature of Love, it is not based on conditions or circumstances. Love is an unconditional non attached state of being. Our true state of being is that of Love. Charles Haanel who wrote the Master Key over 100 years ago is quoted as saying the Law of Attraction is another way of saying the law of Love.

The Law of Attraction works more powerfully when we are working with a non attached attitude.

Celebrate your successes January 25, 2008

One of the best ways to acknowledge yourself for all the great work you have done to get to your goal is to celebrate it!

Celebration is a great way to increase your vibration at a fast rate. Also it tells your subconscious that you acknowledge and honour yourself for the work you have put in to get to your destination. In a way celebration is a form of self appreciation which strengthen´s ones self esteem. The more we do it the better we feel.

There are so many people who start something, meet with challenges and when its done, it is onto the next thing without any self acknowledgement. This habit can create a machine like existence and we then we start to lose touch with ourselves and the great qualities we each possess.

A celebration can be taking time out to have bath with lighted candles, getting a great massage at the local health centre and taking the gold one hour option because you have reached over quota on your sales this month, to a weekend away because you have sold your house.

By acknowledging yourself in both small and large ways you are constantly supporting yourself and being your own best friend.

I am not proposing that you celebrate every time you say wash the dishes or clean the kitchen although that can be a help for many people who really cannot tolerate doing household chores. I am suggesting that when you set reasonable challenges for yourself acknowledge yourself, celebrate yourself, buy yourself a gift or whatever feels good for you.

I was inspired to write this article as today as I have completed 100 articles in this blog and I feel great for achieving this. I never knew I could do it in such a short time and come up with so many different themes. Tonight I will be drinking a quality bottle of champagne with my wife!

Who are you becomming? January 25, 2008

So much of our focus in life is based on setting goals in order to get something  or do something that we miss the most important aspect in this process and that is the person we are becoming in the process.

Some of the top motivational speakers such as Jim Rohn or Anthony Robbins underline that it is who you become that is more important than the physical manifestation of your goals and dreams. These come second.

Jim Rohn´s mentor many years ago advised him to set a goal to become a millionaire and the reason for this was “for who you will become in the process of achieveing it”

For Jim Rohn, that one peice of advise got him fired up to aspire to become a millionaire so as to discover and uncover who he would become – for example taking full responsibility for his actions, being accountable, learning to give and help others, living integrity, tapping in to a greater storehouse of creativity and so much more.

If we are committed to a goal and we are committed to becoming more of who we are then that is probably one of the most fulfilling aspects of life.

Who are are is a vibration. If a person has a high integrity then it shines through without that person saying anything. People just intuit if a person is for real or is putting on a show. People are becoming more sensitive to this way of relating and I can see this aspect of working on one´s own humanity a powerful enabler for positive change in society.

In business I tend to do do business with people who I feel good about and not necessarily the one who has the best offering.

This excellent quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson says it all..

“Who you are speaks so loudly I can´t hear what you are saying”

Your thoughts mirror your environmnet January 25, 2008

Your thoughts mirror your environment in that you are like the projector of our thoughts that is projected into a world which translates into your experiences, situations, relationships, successes and failures.

Some time ago I studied the ancient art of Feng Shui which is all about creating energy balance where you live and work. Every room and thing has its own vibration. The Feng Shui teacher explained that when he entered a house who would start with the inner landscape of the client first then work his way out to the layout and situation in the house or office.

He would ask a series if questions about the client´s relationship with money, friends, family, health, creativity, service to others etc.

From the feedback of the client he would get a good idea why the client has chosen to live or work in the particular environment they are in – he would say “there is nothing out there, only your projected thoughts and beliefs”.

The Feng Shui teacher would then propose changes to be made to the home in terms of placing new objects and re arranging furniture and introducing new colours. However, the most basic of all advise would be to “get rid of the clutter in your life”.

The clutter represents what could be blocking the inner parts of a person´s life in order to free up more energy and vitality to think clearer.

So if you are looking at a disorganised desk and office area, a wardrobe full of clothes you have not looked at in 2 years, a garage full of clutter then all these things represent a projection of your thoughts and feelings that are blocking energy flow in you. By making the positive adjustments to your environment then you are making a parallel adjustment to those parts of your mind that require order and clarity.

So the law of attraction is nothing new as the process of working with energy and vibration goes back to ancient times in China when they worked with nature and they understood the importance of environment and its impact on the mind.

Removing mental blocks using The Work January 24, 2008

Mental blocks and limited thinking can keep us locked in a rut of limitation and frustration. Until we understand and identify these blocks through awareness and inquiry we will remain in their grip and our creativity and natural abilities will be held back.

I have studied and applied numerous methods and techniques for this. Some have worked and some have not. One method that has really caught my attention and I am experiencing new and fresh insights is with the The Work by Byron Katie.

The Work is really about inquiry and the thoughts we hold about ourselves that are neither good or bad – they are stories that we project out into the world. Everyone and everything is a mirror of yourself – your own thinking coming back to you.

One of Katie Byron´s quotes is “Reality is always kinder than the stories we tell about ourselves” and “when I argue with reality, I lose – 100% of the time”

The Work is based on 4 simple but powerful questions which ends with a turnaround question. This means you take back what you have been projecting out as your story and see it as your thinking which is not who you are, its is your thinking about a situation that you are now taking responsibility for.

Here is the inquiry method and I will apply an example..

- “My brother should not reject me when I talk about the past”…. Is that true?…. “Yes”

- Can I absolutely know that it´s true? “No”

- How do I react when I think that thought? “I close up and feel sad”

- Who would I be with the thought? “At ease, open, sharing”

Now I turn it around… “I should not reject myself when I talk with my brother about the past” or “I should not reject my brother when I talk about the past”. With the turnaround I check in to which is more truer of the two and for me it would be the first statement.

What I am doing is taking back my projection and seeing that this story has got in the way of the reality of the situation. In doing this I free myself up of my stories.

I am finding this inquiry very rewarding for getting past negative thought patterns and it fits in well with the application of the Law of Attraction. The great thing is that I don´t have to let go of the thoughts, they move away naturally as each story has been brought into full awareness.

Follow your heart´s desire for success January 23, 2008

Attracting true success and happiness cannot originate from just having the right “mindset”. True succes and happiness has a combination of right “mindset” and right “heartset”.

I have set goals comming from my ego and I have noticed how my successes are short lived or when I make the goal a reality I have found myself feeling empty and wondering why I spent so much time trying so hard to achieve what was really a directive from my ego.

In most cases when a goal is dominated from the mind only, it is only a question of time before obstacles show up and when an obstacle that is bigger than your goal shows up, you “give up” and then start putting yourself down that you have “failed”.

The only failure here is the failure to really get in touch with the heart intelligence that knows your higher purpose and it can see the bigger picture. You have not failed, instead just been given “feedback” to re adjust your path coming from a heart intention.

In Quantum Physics, the emotion behind a goal or intention has to be there. So it seems to me that if the heart is where emotional intelligence is and you feel good about following your passion, then you are off to a great start.

There will be obstacles and and actions to be taken with some of the “have to” actions at the start, however, this is part of getting to what you really want. Obstacles will show up and will you have enough emotion behind the goal to keep going in spite of the adverse circumstances. If it is comming from the heart then you will eventually get through.

The people who seem to be most successful are the ones following their passions or heart´s desires and who are whole hearted.

I have never known a half hearted salesman making it to the top of the sales team, or a half hearted athlete winning a gold medal in the Olympics.

Following your heart´s desires is not about following a whim or a wish. It is about getting very clear about what you really want, what really lights you up and gives you a sense of passion and then going out there with a plan to get what your heart really wants for you.

Inspirational writers such as Napoleon Hill of Think and Grow Rich refer to this as a “burning desire”.

Think and Grow Rich original version January 22, 2008

This famous and important book that so many people have read is now in its original format.

I never realised that the version I have been reading was an edited 1960 version. I received an email comment from the editor of this book that the original version is on the market for purchase and is about 180 pages more of additional value added material which adds more meaning to the philosophy of Think and Grow Rich.

One of the reasons for the original larger version is that when Napoleon Hill wrote the original book in 1936 he made a lot of reference to America being in a deep economic depression and has references to this in terms of how to work with your thoughts to go beyond the lack that was experienced at the time. He wrote the book to bring hope to humanity at the time and the book does exactly that and is very relevant to the modern world we live in.

We are today witnessing massive falls in the stock market prices and the property and real estate markets have contracted considerably. I believe we are entering a period of great economic uncertainty and the only certainty we really have is the power to direct our mind and thoughts to what we want and do it with faith, strength and purpose.

Think and Grow Rich is an enabler for that if you are willing to follow Napoleon Hill´s guidance.

If you are interested to read more about the original version, here is a link to the book on Amazon.

I end this article with a very nice video clip of Napoleon Hill´s wisdom which is just under 5 minutes in length.
