Losing weight starts in the mind December 16, 2007

There is a huge industry out there making alot of money on diet and weight loss programs. I am sure quite a number of these work and alot fall short of their promises.
The problem with alot of these weight loss programs is that someone goes on an all out change of diet for say 3 months and is successful at losing weight and looking slimmer then within a couple of months later the weight is back on and the person is back to square one. It seems that the solution is a temporary fix.
I am not a diet specialist however I know that whatever we want begins and ends in the mind. It has to be done and completed in the mind before external action takes place. In fact I would say 80% of losing weight is a mind thing and the 20% is the diet and exercise you do to make changes.
If you are reading this article and you are thinking of losing weight I would suggest that you spend time each day getting into a quiet space for say 10 minutes and visualise and see yourself as already slimmer. In addition to this, feel what it is like. Who are you with, what are you wearing, what are you eating, how do you sound now that you look and feel slimmer? What sounds do you hear around you? When you or your partner touches your waist what does that feel like and what do they say to you?
To add more firewood to the fire of your imagination, cut out photos from magazines of slim people or the body you would like. Be reasonable with this and don´t try to look like a supermodel with a super thin body in one month.
Once you have this firmly in your mind and you begin to touch into the feeling of this new you then I would suggest you look at your diet and make changes one step at a time while continuing on your daily visualisation routine.
For some, this visualisation will throw up alot of resistance from the mind and the “Chatterbox voice” of the mind will say something like “you can´t lose weight becuase it runs in the family”, “this visualisation is stupid, forget it”, “you have tried before and it has not worked” and so on. Just say to the mind…
“Thank you for sharing” and then say “next”. In other words do not allow the chatterbox tell you what to do and keep up your visualisation on your new image as well as taking steps to excerise and eat differently.
I am not a big fan of affirmations, however you could add an affirmation worded in a way that the sub concious understands such as.. “I am in the process of fitting into my 34´jeans” or whatever size you are aiming for. Making this specific helps to focus the mind and gives you an end purpose.
Losing weight starts in the mind and imagination and it costs you nothing to start.
